Michael J. 64,of Bloomfield formerly a resident of Rutherford NJ for 36 years, passed away April 17.
Michael was a graduate of Saint Mary’s High School and was inducted into St Mary’s Hall of fame.He attended St. Leo’s College in Florida but did not finish to become a United States Marine during the Viet Nam era. He was formerly employed with Fulton Fish Market for 30 years and later KNS Distributors in Clifton for 7 years. Michael was a big Philidelphia Eagles fan.

He was born in April 1948 in Passaic to his father, the late Thomas Mellody and is survived by his mother Catherine(nee Jacques). He will be missed by the love of his life Lorraine of 26 years,his cherished children; Patti, Michael and Katie, his sisters Patricia Davis, Nancy Mellody , his brother, the lateThomas.
Michael had many friends especially his life long friend Thomas Farrell along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral: Saturday 10:00AM Mass of Christian Liturgy in the Church of Saint Mary, Rutherford. Please arrive in the Funeral Home 9:00AM

Alice Schenk (nee Johansen) 83, a long time resident of Rutherford passed away peacefully on April 22, 2012 surrounded by her family.
Alice was a former member of the Rutherford Woman’s Club and the Polymathic Club of Rutherford and retired from Riggio Company as their Collection Manager in East Rutherford , 25 years ago.
She will be sadly missed by her husband John of 64 years, her cherished daughters; Laura TenEyck and her husband William , Carol Kuntz and her husband William and her beautiful grandchildren Miranda and Daniel along with her two brothers Richard Johansen, Walter Johansen and his wife Beverly.

Funeral: Wednesday 10:00AM Service in the 1st Presbyterian Church, Rutherford. Please arrive in Funeral Home 9:00AM.
Interment: Hazelwood Cemetery , 64 West Lake Avenue , Rahway .

Jerry is survived by his wife Mary, daughter Nanci, son Nick, and grandchildren Zachary, Alyssa, Gianna, and Kierra. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, friend and confidant to many. He will be missed but never forgotten.

Edward J. Sr., 76, of Rutherford passed away on April 15, 2012, surrounded by his loving family.

Before retirement (2006), Edward was an Engineer for 53 years with PSE&G.
He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Edward was the President of the Babe Ruth League and an avid softball player.

Born in Jersey City, he lived for many years in Rutherford. Beloved husband of Joan (nee Hickey) Walsh. He will be missed by his growing family, his children; Edward W. Walsh, Michael Walsh and his wife Geralyn, William P. Walsh and his wife Maryclaire, Patricia Walsh , Kevin Walsh and his wife Michelle, James A. Walsh, Matthew Walsh and his wife Dawn and the late Paul Walsh. His beautiful grandchildren; Meghan, Robert, Christopher, Kellie, Alexa, Erin, William, Paul, Kyle, Dannielle (Walsh) Aguirre and her husband Steven. His pride and joy; Great
grandchildren Steven and Hailey Aguirre.

Heather Patricia, 13 of Rutherford, suddenly passed away at home on April 12, 2012 after courageously living with complex congenital heart disease.

Heather was an 8th grade student at Union School in Rutherford and was named Student of the Month for March 2012. She was looking forward to Spanish 2 in High School, receiving Confirmation and graduating with her class this June. She was a Girl Scout for 9 years going for the Silver Award and enjoyed sharing her knowledge with younger children. She loved the Yankees and Giants and was a huge NASCAR fan. She enjoyed watching the races with her family while cheering for her favorite race car driver, Jimmie Johnson #48. Heather cheered for RJF Jr. Football for 4 years and was looking forward to playing softball with her new teammates, the Lions. Bon Jovi, Taylor Swift, Jason Aldean and Country music were her favorites.

Heather was the treasured daughter of Philip and Mary Ellen (nee Zabady) Sartori and big sister of Jarett. The sweet granddaughter of Max Sartori and the late Milly Sartori and the late Albert and Patricia Zabady. Cherished niece of Mike Sartori and his wife Kathy, Steven Sartori and his wife Daren, Albert Zabady, Jr. and his wife Cynthia and Margaret Van Derlyn. She loved being with her cousins; Bryan , Lauryn and Max Sartori and Brian, Christopher and Allison Zabady. Her favorite cousin was Sharon Van Derlyn. She was a special great niece to Katy and Al Prais and their sons; Christopher and Conrad and great niece to Jeanne Zabady. She will be missed by her kitty cats Mookie and Tony, and Bubbles.

Funeral Tuesday: Family and friends will gather 9:00AM for 9:30AM Mass of Christian Liturgy in The Church of Saint Mary, 91 Home Ave. Rutherford.
Interment: Holy Cross Cemetery, No. Arlington.

Barbara, (nee Breen) 85, of Westwood NJ , a former active and loyal resident of Rutherford for over 50 years, passed away April 10th . Barbara was past President of The Meadowlands Museum, PTA for the Pierrepont School and the Adult Education School in Rutherford. In addition to being the part-time bookkeeper for the family business, Donner & Hellegers, in Clifton, she also worked for Howard Wiel in Rutherford.
Barbara enjoyed being a homemaker and was most proud of the many members of her beautiful growing family. She is predeceased by her husband Thomas the II, (2004). She is survived by her loving children, Thomas A. and his wife Louisa, Jay M. and his wife Julia, Richard D. and his wife Tamosin, Barbara H. Pugh and her husband Robin Belford; her grandchildren, Adam P. and his wife Stefanie, Neil M. and his wife Allison, Caleb A., Kiersten, Ann W. and Barbara H. Belford; her great grandchildren Vincent and Ginger; her brothers and sisters, Richard Breen, Joan Simmons and the late Jack Breen, Robert Breen and Nancy Breen. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Jeanne Wells and many nieces and nephews.

Therese (Terry) Strehl (nee Hagerty) of Rutherford, loving wife of 56 years to the late Eugene Martin Strehl, and beloved mother of nine children died peacefully on May 28, 2012 surrounded by her loved ones.

Therese attended St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Passaic, NJ, and went on to work for St. Mary’s Hospital as a registered nurse. She was also a member of the Cadet Nurse Corps during World War II.

Music was an integral part of her life. She was a member and soloist with The Church of St. Mary Choir for many years and was also active in the church as a receptionist and as a member of Our Lady’s Rosary Makers and Altar & Rosary Society.

Therese was the beloved mother and mother-in-law of Terry Anne and Ralph Horan of Palm Bay, Fla., Eugene Martin the III and Sheila of Ambler, Pa., Cathy Egbert of Rutherford, Ann and Bernie Menninger of Leesburg, Va., Gary of Reston, Va., Mary Beth Corcoran of Bernardsville, Nanette of Rutherford, Amy and Parviz Ansari of State College, Pa., and Patrick and Maureen of Washington Township. She was the sister of Patricia McGowan of Spring Lake, N.J., Mary Ballman of Rouses Point, N.Y., Mildred Bill of Flemington, N.J., and the late Ann Sullivan of Wharton, N.J. She was also the adored grandmother of nineteen and the great grandmother of six.

A private wake will be held on Saturday June 2, followed by 10:30AM Mass of Christian Liturgy in the Church of Saint Mary, 91 Home Ave., Rutherford. Interment: Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington

Salvatore G., 88, a long time resident of Rutherford, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2012 surrounded by his family.

He proudly served in the United States Army during in World War II.

Sal was the Past President (1983 – 1984) of the Lions Club in District 16A and was a member of the Elks Club Lodge 547 in Rutherford. He worked as a Hair Stylist in the family owned business, Madame Iola Hair Salon in Rutherford for over 70 years.

He is survived by his wife Ada (nee Lumuno). His loving children, Stephen Piro, Mark Piro, Ellen and her husband Robert Violante, Lisa Piro and her husband Steven Calamita. His brother Gary Piro. Salvatore was the dear grandfather of Melissa, Giana Julia and Sofia.

Cremation will be Private.

A memorial service in Salvatore Piro’s memory will be announced at a later date.

Venera enjoyed being a homemaker and was most proud of the many members of her beautiful growing family.

She is predeceased by her husband Giuseppi (1987), her sons Valentino (2000), Alfredo (1958), her daughter Amalia (1957) and her sisters Amalia DeMarco and Eleonora Mancuso.

Venera is survived by her children; Carmelo and his wife Domenica, her son Armando , Angela and her husband Joseph Arlotta, Rita and her husband Nicola Selvaggio, Giovanni and his wife Rena. Her 15 grandchildren, ten residing in the USA; Joseph, Salvatore, Antonino, Melissa, Franco, Lisa, Kristina, Nicole, Christine, Antonio and five residing in Italy; Maria, Giuseppe, Antonio, Roberto and Massimo.

Catherine Patricia (Pat) (nee Conti) Lawlor 73, of Lyndhurst passed away peacefully at home on Sept 4. Pat was born in Jersey City to Anthony Joseph Conti and Helen(nee Daly).
Catherine (Pat) is survived by her devoted husband Daniel Richard of 57 wonderful years.
She will be greatly missed by her son Anthony and his wife Marie , daughters Ellen Lawlor and husband Joseph Camerone , Kim Lawlor and Danielle Lawlor.
Catherine (Pat) was cherished by her sisters Rosemarie Conti, Maureen Casciano and husband Joseph, the late Joan Castro, her husband Jose Manuel and the late Carol Ann Pergola. Her brother- in- law Mark Pergola. Her sister- in- law Margaret Visconti.
Her many grandchildren, Michael Lawlor, Lauren Camerone, Jennifer Lawlor, Joseph Camerone, Daniel Lawlor, Samantha Sharpe and Desmond Sharpe, and several nieces and nephews.
Catherine (Pat) was a volunteer for Lyndhurst Rec Association and Autism Speaks.

The family will receive visitors Wednesday, Sept 7 from 2-4 and 7-9PM.

Thomas “Dan”, 78, a long time resident of Rutherford for over 40 years, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2012.

Thomas proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion Post 109, Rutherford and The AMVETS, Delaware. What he enjoyed most was spending time with his family and friends. His favorite pastime was fishing and boating.

He was an Electrician for 25 years with PANY & NJ/ Path, retiring in 1998. Formerly, he worked for PSE&G, Secaucus, for 20 years.

Thomas is predeceased by his wife Lillian nee Cullen (2010).He is survived by his loving children, Daniel Powers and his wife Judith, Eileen and her husband James Witterschein, Patricia and her husband Douglas Glaeser, his grandchildren, Reisetta Dunn, Katelyn Powers, Amy Witterchein, Meghan Powers, Andrew Witterchein and his great grandchildren Christopher and Conner Dunn. He was the dear brother of Maureen Kolinsky.
